OLD CHANNEL TRAIL GOLF COURSE
INVITES JUNIORS TO PLAY FREE DURING 'JUNIOR JULY'

Montague, Michigan - Old Channel Trail Golf Course will offer free golf for juniors throughout July as part of a month long Junior July celebration at the course. Juniors up to age 14 receive free greens fees when accompanied by an adult player.

The month kicks off July 1 with a Lake Michigan Junior Golf Tour event at the course for juniors ages 10-18. Tee times start at 9 am and more information is available at www.lakemichiganjuniorgolftour.com.

July 5 - 11 is Take Your Daughter to the Course Week, and girls who golf with adults receive a free OCT logo ball as well as complimentary greens fees. This is part of the national "Take Your Daughter to the Course Week" which is sponsored by the National Golf Course Owners Association.

"Although 22 percent of the all golfers are female, only 13 percent of junior golfers are girls," said Meriam Leeke, owner of Old Channel Trail Golf Course.

"We feel it is important to encourage more girls to get involved in the game so that they can experience the fun of the game and benefit from the life skills that golf has to offer."

"Golf is unique among sports in that young people can play with older people, men with women - it's a sport for a lifetime," said Old Channel Trail Golf Course's Director of Operations, Bill Leeke. "I started playing as a little kid and it was always an activity I shared with my grandparents, my parents, my wife, and I hope to someday share it with children of my own. Golf bridges generations."
