WELCOMES NEW SUPERINTENDENT DEAN SMITH


Montague, Michigan - Old Channel Trail Golf Course welcomes Superintendent Dean Smith to the OCT management team. 

Smith, a veteran irrigation and turf specialist, most recently served as an irrigation technician at Forest Akers East and West Golf Courses at Michigan State University in East Lansing. He was also a field technician in the turfgrass breeding program at MSU.

"Dean is an incredible mix of hands-on expertise, management skill, and common sense," said Old Channel Trail Golf Course director of operations Bill Leeke. "We're looking forward to the new ideas and solutions that Dean brings to the course."

Smith's career includes work as a Water Resource Management Consultant for the city of Glendale, Arizona, as Golf Course Superintendent for Arrowhead Country Club, in Glendale, Arizona, and as Golf Course Manager for the Recreation Centers of Sun City in Sun City, Arizona.

A graduate of the University of Arizona in Tucson with a degree in Agronomy, Smith is a certified golf course irrigation systems auditor.

Old Channel Trail Golf Course is a 27 hole facility with a pro shop, driving range, three practice holes and a picnic area on the majestic bluffs above Lake Michigan.
