Golf Event April 18 at Old Channel Trail
Benefits Goodwill Industries of West Michigan

Montague, Michigan - Old Channel Trail Golf Course is hosting an inaugural golf event to benefit 
Goodwill Industries of West Michigan, Inc. The Ugly Pants Open, scheduled for Sunday, April 18, 
is a 9-hole scramble event where prizes will be awarded for the top two-person golf team and 
for the duo wearing the ugliest pants.

Those who bring donations to the drop-off center located at the golf course from Friday, April 16 
through the Sunday of the event will be entered to win other prizes. Every one who donates a bag 
of items will receive a certificate good for a bucket of range balls or use of the three practice holes 
at Old Channel Trail Golf Course.

"The new Whitehall store and Goodwill's skill development programs a great addition to the community," 
said Old Channel Trail Director of Operations, Bill Leeke. "We wanted to create a fun event that 
encouraged people to put the 'treasures' people find during spring cleaning to better use and we hope 
that the spirit of the Ugly Pants Open will inspire people to think about what they can contribute all year long."

"Community donations of clothing and household items are crucial to our mission," said Liz Witzler, 
Marketing Director of Goodwill Industries of West Michigan. "We wouldn't be able to do what we do 
without them! Over 90% of the funds generated from the sale of our donations are directly channeled 
back into our employment and training programs and services."

The Ugly Pants Open event starts at 10 am on Sunday, April 18, with a brunch for players followed 
by an 11 am shotgun start. Entry fees are $25 per player, $17 per player for Old Channel Trail Golf 
Course Members. In addition, Old Channel Trail will be having a 'Last Chance for a Good Cause' sale 
of items left in the Lost and Found basket for longer than 6 months. Proceeds of this sale and from
the event will benefit Goodwill. 
  
Established in 1950, Goodwill Industries of West Michigan, Inc. is a nonprofit human service organization 
that provides skill development and work opportunities for people with barriers to employment. In the year 
2003, Goodwill served 5,470 persons.

Old Channel Trail Golf Course is a 27 hole facility with a pro shop, driving range, three practice holes 
and a picnic area on the majestic bluffs above Lake Michigan. Located just 6 miles off of US 31, Old Channel 
Trail Golf Course was founded in 1926 and offers professional instruction, outings, events and more.
